Survey on Coping With PD: Creating Happiness & Expanding Quality of Life

This survey is based on responses to a thread in the MGH BrainTalk web forum that asked the question, What makes coping with PD easier and your quality of life higher? This is a thoroughly NON scientific survey, although the results along with the thread comments, will be passed on to Dr. Alex Troster at the University of Washington. The MGH thread is

Initial Survey results show "Positive Thinking" to be the number one coping mechanism to live well with PD.

But...so what?  So now we talk about what we know. ...we make sure those in our lives who care for us are aware of what they can do for our good mental health and how important it is.

Promote the Positive

How Do I Cope With PD?

I look at beautiful art, like this print by Morris Graves.

I hang out with my teen age daughter and listen to Avril Lavigne

I keep in contact with my PD internet network of friends

I try to find the humor in everything...everyday life as well as the intentional (listen to David Sedaris!)

I keep in touch with old friends.

I talk to my parents and sister who live in a distant state.

I plan fun outings several months in advance to be sure I always have something to look forward to.

I play with website design for the sheer pleasure.

I remember to listen frequently to the Indigo Girls, for their poetry in song that captures the human condition
