The Puget Sound PD Housing Alliance (PuSH for PD) was formed in the fall of 2002 by people with Parkinson's Disease, caregivers, and professionals who share the common vision of providing special needs housing specifically designed for PWP's in the Puget Sound area.

The spectrum of needs in the PWP population is wide and variable depending on age and stage of disease progression.  Yet PD also presents challenges unique to the disease that are profound enough to support the concept of specialized housing.  These would include medication requirements, movement disorders specific to PD, and cognitive changes.

A needs assessment survey has just been completed and the results are under review to determine next steps. Thank you to everyone in local PD support groups, those affiliated with the Washington State Chapter of the American Parkinson's Disease Association (APDA), members of the Northwest Parkinson's Foundation, and PD patients at various Puget Sound area clinics who participated in the survey.
